Russia has set up a special series of jamming weapons

The Russian army has established a ground-based unit specializing in defeating enemy drones. The unit—the first of its kind in Russia—operates electronic signal jammer systems that, in theory, can sever the radio connections between unmanned aerial vehicles and their operators.

NGJ-MB is part of the Next Generation Jammer (NGJ) system capability comprised of three stand-alone programs: NGJ Mid-Band, NGJ Low Band, and a future NGJ High Band. Each of the three programs covers a different frequency band and addresses a variety of adversary systems. NGJ will augment, and eventually replace, the ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System currently integrated on the EA-18G Growler aircraft.

And other Russian equipment have been spotted on the outskirts of the village of Zemlyane (Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine). The village is under the control of the Russian hybrid forces, and is situated only 7 km away from the line of contact, which runs in this area along the Siversky Donets river.

For a radio cell phone jammer to work, it needs to be fairly close to the signal its crew wants to disrupt. The Avtobaza, for one, can detect targets up to 93 miles away, according to Air Power Australia, an independent think tank specializing in military electronic systems. Jamming requires more power than detecting does, so the range at which the Avtobaza can disrupt a drone is certainly shorter than 90 miles.

The AN/ALQ-214 IDECM Onboard Jammer (OBJ) is a next-generation RF integrated countermeasure system. The legacy (V)3 version is currently deployed on USN’s F/A-18E/F aircraft to provide self-protection.

Therefore, the continuously increasing dependency of the businesses on the GPS based application is also one of the main factor anticipated to catalyze the growing demand of different types of signal jammers during the forecast period from 2017 to 2025. In addition, constant investment in jamming technologies for the purpose of meeting the next generation capability is also anticipated to increase the demand of signal jammers in the upcoming years. In turn this is also projected to affect the signal jammer market in a positive manner during the forecast period.
