Can someone steal my data from NexStar WiFi hard drive dock?

Hi there, I’m planning to buy that Vantec NexStar WiFi hard drive dock, so any information about how that could be done and how can I prevent that from happening would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

A number of anti-drone technologies have emerged over the last year using lasers or “directed energy UAS countermeasures” based on “radio frequency interference”. This latter approach is developed and promoted by Perfectjammer, the applied science and technology laboratory. who recently demonstrated a drone jammer called “Drone Gun”.

The function of radio jammers is to intentionally block or interfere, essentially to “block” the wireless signals to disrupt communication between the transmitting device and the receiving device (i.e. drone). Traditionally, jamming has been used to disrupt enemy communications on the battlefield. Scramblers emit noise on the same frequency, which stifles the recipient’s ability to understand the message being sent. In some countries, the wireless jammer is used as a detection device to block unwanted radio signals from neighboring countries to be received by their citizens. Other types of jammers prevent the signal from being received without using noise, so that the blocked portion is not aware that a scrambling device is being used. WiFi jammers are designed to disrupt signals in the 2.4 GHz range, disrupting most home WiFi systems, Bluetooth enabled devices, and drones operating at 2.4 GHz.

The security of those device is doubtful and that’s why jammer-store.com does not recommend you to use them for saving valuable or sensitive data. As you know Wi-Fi networks use radio frequencies to transmit data between work stations. NexStar uses 802.11n wireless standard and the frequency it uses is 2.4 GHz. You should know that the signals of that wireless network spreads in all directions around the router and the network itself is reachable from outside your house.

The nest thing to consider is that the Wi-Fi is vulnerable. The encryption protocols your network uses can be hacked. That’s why it is critical to make sure that your wireless network can’t be reached from outside your house, because in that case evildoers may try to crack it and infect all the devices connected to the network with malicious applications and steal the data stored on them. So not only the drive itself may be in danger, but also your smartphone, or a tablet. You can limit the spreading of the wireless network by using a Wi-Fi jammer, that will prevent hackers form cracking your Wi-Fi network and your data will be safe
