How can I avoid OnStar Family Link from getting my location?

Hello everyone! I have heard that this new OnStar system will be available at fall and it will allow parents to ALWAYS know where my car is. Can I prevent this somehow? In the name of teen freedom, you know 😉

A BBC correspondent in northeastern Kenya said other mosques around the city of Garissa are now trying to raise enough funds to buy their own device.

Everyone hates cell phones that go off at inappropriate times – movies, classrooms, funerals (especially bad for anyone with a cheerful disco ring), and of course religious services come to mind. Kenyan Muslims are delighted to discover a device that blocks the signals of mobile phones:

OnStar Family Link is the system that uses GPS jammer tracking installed in your car to transmit received data to the password-protected website where your parents can log in and discover your location. Moreover, they are able not only to track your current location but in addition to place some alerts on certain places you may visit.

For example, they have told you not to go to the night club that is your favorite one but they think it is bad. So they can put an alert for the location of that club and at the same moment you drive there your parents will get e-mail or text message notifying them that you have disobeyed what they have said. The only thing is that this GPS tracking is not real-time and your location must be refreshed on the website for each time period.

OnStar Family Link has also many entertainment features which use 4G connection to stream video like movies or Skype video chat using the camera at the OnStar rear-view mirror or other similar equipment. While this might bring much fun to everyone, it can also potentially endanger the driver behind the wheel.
