“We are measuring signals that have known or discovered geographic locations,” said John Carlson, Echo Ridge’s Technical Director. “Because we are able to accurately measure these signals, we can accurately estimate the position without error of growth over time or distance traveled.”
The company created an algorithm to aggregate opportunity signals from various RF sources and then worked to provide an additional source of backup, positioning and synchronization. The algorithm is used to determine a position based on the arrival time difference of these signals, which do not operate on the same frequency as the GPS jammer .
